We’re pleased to bring you the latest updates on EAL qualifications this March 2026. This edition covers a range of changes, including qualification extensions, new releases, document updates, and withdrawals.

Post-16 skills reform: New funding guides for Level 2 and Level 3 BSE and Engineering and Manufacturing 

The government has set out clearer plans for a reformed post‑16 system, introducing a third vocational route at Level 3 alongside A levels and T Levels. This recognises the need for meaningful choice as learners progress into work, further study or higher education.

To support providers, we have created Level 2 and Level 3 BSE and Engineering and Manufacturing funding guides for England, outlining funding arrangements and timelines for each qualification.

Apprenticeships and Training Conference 2026 highlights 

EAL enjoyed a fantastic two days at the Apprenticeships and Training Conference 2026 in Liverpool, connecting with training providers, partners and sector leaders from across the country.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited the EAL stand - it was great to connect with so many passionate professionals across the apprenticeship and training community.

New EAL Level 3 qualifications for 2026

EAL is introducing two new Level 3 qualifications designed to strengthen industry competence and support professionals working across the electrical installation and electronic security sectors:

• Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 (610/7005/1)
• Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation and Commissioning of Electronic Security Systems (610/7046/4)

New resources to support you in delivering our EAL Level 3 Award in Sustainability Engineering (610/6260/1)

New resources are available to support you in delivering our EAL Level 3 Award in Sustainability Engineering (610/6260/1).  

These helpful materials are available for the two pathways within this exciting qualification: Sustainable Engineering: Engineering and Manufacturing, and Sustainable Engineering: Building Services Engineering.

EAL is now recognised as an EPAO for Level 2 Aviation Maintenance Mechanic ST0014 V1.2

We’re pleased to announce that an additional apprenticeship standard has been added to our offerings, with resources now accessible on Ace360. 
 
If you're using EAL as your EPAO, you can access a comprehensive range of materials to support centres and apprentices in confidently managing the EPA process. 

EAL is now recognised as an EPAO for ST1426 L3 Engineering Maintenance Technician - Single Discipline v1.0 and ST1443 L3 Engineering Maintenance Technician - Dual Discipline v1.0

We’re pleased to announce that the additional apprenticeship standards have been added to our offerings, with resources now accessible on Ace360.
