We design, provide and maintain a comprehensive range of qualifications, assessments and skills solutions for educators and training providers; to ensure that engineers and engineering and manufacturing employers have the right skills, at the right time, to keep up with changing industry needs and the net-zero transition.
EAL is a leading awarding organisation regulated by government bodies across the four nations and is a full member of the Federation of Awarding Bodies.
We work with industry experts to design and maintain our wide range of Engineering & Manufacturing and Building Services Engineering qualifications. We gather evidence of what skills are needed on a local and national scale, and decide how to measure learners’ progress in acquiring those skills.
We assist in the development of teaching and learning resources for tutors and learners when further input is required.
When the learner is ready, they complete an assessment – this could take the form of knowledge exams, coursework, a practical exercise, a structured discussion or collection of evidence with the training provider or their employer.
The training provider (usually a college) then confirms the results and requests a certificate. We carry out quality assurance checks so we can be satisfied the assessment meets the criteria set out in the Qualification Specification, and issue the certificate.
This means employers and educators can trust in the level of attainment learners have achieved for progression in their place of work or learning.
EAL is also an end-point assessment organisation, or EPAO. Our goal is to make sure learners can access the skills and training they need to begin a career in the engineering and manufacturing sector. We achieve this through the design and maintenance of a comprehensive range of EPA standards.
We practise an unbiased independent assessment process to ensure fairness. Our work is regulated by a number of UK bodies, including Ofqual and Skills England.
We support learners’ development by guiding employers and training providers on how to prepare for the EPA. Methods of assessment can include written exams, practical tests, or even a structured discussion of the work between student and assessor.
Our qualifications, assessments and skills solutions are designed and maintained by vocational education and training experts who understand the current and future needs of educators, training providers, employers and engineers in the engineering and manufacturing sector, and related industries.
