EAL is introducing two new Level 3 qualifications designed to strengthen industry competence and support professionals working across the electrical installation and electronic security sectors.
This updated qualification provides a comprehensive understanding of BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, supporting electricians, designers and inspectors who need to align their knowledge with Amendment 4 of the IET Wiring Regulations.
The qualification consists of a single knowledge-based unit (35 GLH) and is assessed through an open-book, 60-question on-screen examination. It replaces qualification 603/3298/0 and will be available from April 2026, with automatic approval granted to centres currently delivering the previous version.
This qualification develops the knowledge and practical skills required to design, install and commission modern electronic security systems, including intruder alarms, video surveillance and access control systems.
Learners will explore relevant standards, system components, design principles and industry best practices for installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance. The qualification comprises a single unit (40 GLH, TQT 48) and is assessed through a 50-question on-screen examination and an EAL-set, centre-marked practical assessment.
These new qualifications reinforce EAL’s commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-aligned training that supports both new entrants and experienced professionals in developing the skills required by today’s sector.
