Occupation overview

Rail engineering advanced technicians provide technical engineering solutions and fixes across the rail network. Options within this core-and-options standard include electrification, overhead line, rail systems, signalling, telecoms, traction and rolling stock, and track works (including minor works). 

Workers in rail engineering are tasked with creating a safe and reliable railway experience for customers. The role requires a disciplined and responsible approach to its high level of safety-critical work activities.

End-point assessment with EAL 

EAL is an end-point assessment organisation (EPAO), and listed on the Apprenticeship Providers and Assessment Register (APAR).
