Occupation overview

Automation and controls engineering technicians work with software and control systems to keep things running smoothly within automated processes. They’ll also learn a variety of tools and hardware systems to carry out associated manual tasks. 

Technicians can keep tabs on systems either on-site or remotely, so the role might involve some travel.

End-point assessment with EAL 

EAL is an end-point assessment organisation (EPAO), and listed on the Apprenticeship Providers and Assessment Register (APAR). 

EAL has been at the heart of new apprenticeship standards development, supporting employer trailblazer development groups for key industry occupations since 2013, when the reforms began.
