Occupation overview

Machining technicians produce the complex and precision machined products used in everything from vehicles and planes to medical equipment and household appliances, using a variety of different machining techniques. 

Technicians use CNC equipment to produce, prove, and validate programs. The role also involves inspection of components and machinery, reporting issues and supporting continuous improvement activities.

End-point assessment with EAL 

EAL is an end-point assessment organisation (EPAO), and listed on the Apprenticeship Providers and Assessment Register (APAR). 

EAL has been at the heart of new apprenticeship standards development, supporting employer trailblazer development groups for key industry occupations since 2013, when the reforms began.
