Occupation overview

Engineering design technician apprentices are tasked with preparing design solutions by producing drawings, models, and designs for a range of systems and components. They will use CAD systems, and communicate design decisions to colleagues. 

Apprentices will work on one specialist option as well as their core training. This means selecting a specialism in design from piping, structural design, and electrical power design among others.

End-point assessment with EAL

EAL is an end-point assessment organisation (EPAO), and listed on the Apprenticeship Providers and Assessment Register (APAR). 

EAL has been at the heart of new apprenticeship standards development, supporting employer trailblazer development groups for key industry occupations since 2013, when the reforms began.
