Occupation overview

Aircraft maintenance technicians work to ensure that their diverse fleet remains airworthy. Craft range in size and function from helicopters to jet fighters, and employers including commercial airlines and the military are taking on workers for the role. 

The role involves checking, repair, and modification of aircraft components and systems. It also requires carrying out safety checks and ensuring work is done to schedule.

UK part-66 route

Apprentices are expected to follow only one of the available routes. For ease of use, the end-point assessment has been separated into two sections. This page covers the UK part-66 route.

End-point assessment with EAL 

EAL is an end-point assessment organisation (EPAO), and listed on the Apprenticeship Providers and Assessment Register (APAR).
