Occupation overview

Engineering operatives adopt a wide range of common and specialist skills that will help them develop into many different roles over the course of a career. As well as the skills in specific manufacturing processes, the work may also include admin and technical support. 

The core and options apprenticeship with six pathways requires knowledge and skills across a variety of different areas, from reactive and preventative maintenance to operating machines for fabrication and assembly.

End-point assessment with EAL 

EAL is an end-point assessment organisation (EPAO), and listed on the Apprenticeship Providers and Assessment Register (APAR). 

EAL has been at the heart of new apprenticeship standards development, supporting employer trailblazer development groups for key industry occupations since 2013, when the reforms began.
