The EAL Level 5 Award in Infrared Thermography for Diagnostics, Prognostics and Reporting is a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) designed to develop advanced theoretical knowledge and professional competence in the science, measurement, and application of infrared thermography.
The qualification equips learners with specialist expertise in the configuration, calibration, optimisation, and critical evaluation of infrared thermographic systems, enabling them to operate confidently within complex industrial, building, and asset management environments. Emphasis is placed on the application of thermal physics, radiative heat transfer, atmospheric correction, and advanced imaging techniques to support accurate diagnostic and prognostic decision making.
Learners develop the capability to apply internationally recognised ISO standards, interpret thermographic data with due consideration of uncertainty and limitations, and produce clear, compliant, and client ready technical reports. The qualification also supports the ability to contribute to, or lead, thermographic condition monitoring programmes across diverse sectors, ensuring outputs meet industry, regulatory, and stakeholder expectations.
As an approved centre, you can deliver recognised EAL qualifications to your learners, and receive ongoing support from our team.
