The EAL Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing is a Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ). It focuses on fundamental practical skills and knowledge. This ensures that when the learner completes the qualification, they will have gained practical experience and expectations of some of the situations that they could face in a job role within the plumbing sector.
This qualification is predominantly for learners 16-18 or 19+ who may have limited prior knowledge and understanding of the plumbing sector but have the ability to achieve a fundamental level qualification. Also, those who are thinking about plumbing as a career but who would like some experience of the job role first and those who are new to the industry or looking for a career change or wish to learn new skills.
The qualification covers a wide range of subjects, including safe working practices, understanding environmental protection measures, understanding fundamental plumbing systems and understanding and demonstrating fundamental copper tube practical applications.
This qualification will not make the learner an industry approved plumber but will allow progression to an industry recognised qualification and it is NOT competency-based, and as such, the learners would need additional competence training if they were successful in securing employment in industry.
