On Thursday 6 August 2026, learners, employers, educators and industry leaders from across the UK will come together for the very first Vocational Celebration Day – a new annual event dedicated to recognising the achievements of people choosing vocational and technical pathways.
Created by Enginuity and EAL, Vocational Celebration Day aims to shine a spotlight on the skills, talent and determination that keep our economy moving and our communities thriving.
While academic achievements have long had moments of national recognition, vocational success has too often gone uncelebrated. Vocational Celebration Day is about changing that.
The day will bring together voices from across the skills landscape to celebrate learners who are building successful careers through apprenticeships, technical qualifications and vocational training.
At the heart of the celebrations will be a special livestream hosted by former apprentice and broadcaster Steph McGovern. Streaming from 10am on YouTube and social media channels, the programme will be broadcast live from Teagle Machinery Ltd in Truro, Cornwall, and will feature learners, employers, educators and sector leaders from across the UK.
The location is a fitting backdrop for the first Vocational Celebration Day. Cornwall is home to a thriving engineering and manufacturing community, with innovative businesses operating across sectors including advanced manufacturing, aerospace, marine, renewable energy and food production.
Viewers can expect inspiring stories from people who have chosen vocational routes, insights from employers investing in skills, and discussions about the role technical education plays in supporting the UK's future workforce. There will also be special guests, live celebrations from across the country and a few surprises along the way.
Vocational careers are at the centre of everyday life. From engineers, technicians and manufacturers to healthcare professionals, digital specialists and construction workers, vocationally trained people help build, maintain and improve the world around us.
Vocational Celebration Day recognises the contribution these individuals make every day and highlights the opportunities available to the next generation.
For learners completing qualifications this year, the day is an opportunity to celebrate a significant achievement and the start of an exciting career journey.
Vocational Celebration Day is about more than one day in the calendar. It is part of a wider effort to raise awareness of vocational pathways and ensure technical achievement receives the recognition it deserves.
The event reflects the growing importance of skills in supporting economic growth, innovation and productivity across the UK. As employers continue to face skills shortages in key sectors, investing in and celebrating vocational talent has never been more important.
Whether you're a learner, employer, educator or advocate for skills, Vocational Celebration Day is an opportunity to join a national conversation about the value of vocational education and the people behind it.
We look forward to celebrating with you on 6 August as we recognise the achievements, ambition and potential of vocational learners across the UK.
