Engineering is an ever-changing industry full of opportunities, new technologies and challenges, but who will be the people solving the problems of tomorrow?
National Engineering Day, led by the Royal Academy of Engineering, is a celebration of the people and innovations that are driving our world forward and encouraging more people to think about a future career in engineering.
This year’s theme, ‘Now Hiring: The Engineers of 2076’ takes a look at what life will be like in 50 years’ time, as part of the Academy’s 50th anniversary celebrations. By running a recruitment drive for engineering roles that don’t yet exist, it encourages people to think about what life on earth and beyond will be like, and what skills future engineers will need.
For EAL, it’s a timely reminder of the importance of providing learners with knowledge, practical experience and recognised qualifications to help them create a successful career.
Engineering has a wide range of opportunities for learners to pursue a career in, from advanced manufacturing to renewable energy and rail. As technology develops and we move towards a net zero future, the skills required will continue to evolve.
As a specialist awarding organisation and end point assessment organisation, EAL work with employers, educators and training providers to develop qualifications and assessments.
We offer a range of qualifications and assessments to support learners in building their skills. From full-time technical qualifications and T Levels to apprenticeships and occupational qualifications, we offer Engineering & Manufacturing, Building Services Engineering, Rail and Cross Sector Skills.
By working with industry experts, we ensure the learning we provide is relevant to the industry, giving learners the foundation they need to adapt and develop throughout their careers.
Creating the engineers of tomorrow starts by providing learners with opportunities today. We work with schools, colleges, universities, independent training providers and employers to provide high-quality technical education and training.
Over the last 20 years, we have awarded over 2 million EAL certificates to help people develop, enter and progress within their chosen occupation. We have also worked with employers through 25 trailblazer groups to create occupational standards and assessment plans for new apprenticeships.
We are proud to celebrate the learners, apprentices, educators and employers that are helping to create the future of engineering this National Engineering Day. Whilst the engineers of 2076 may be doing roles we can’t even imagine, their journey starts with us creating the skills and opportunities for them today.
Find out how we are helping to create the next generation of engineers by exploring our qualifications and skills.
