Celebrating careers in manufacturing this National Manufacturing Day

National Manufacturing Day is a chance to celebrate the people, skills and technology behind the products we use every day, and the many different careers that help make them possible.

From the people designing and developing new products to those operating machinery, maintaining equipment, managing production and solving problems on the shop floor, manufacturing brings together a huge range of skills and expertise.

At EAL, we’re proud to support the people developing those skills and help learners and employers navigate the different routes into and through engineering and manufacturing.

Making career opportunities easier to discover

For anyone considering their next step, understanding the different roles and pathways available can make a real difference.

Our career routes resources help learners explore the variety of careers across engineering and manufacturing, including the skills, qualifications and routes that can help them get started.

We also offer a wide range of engineering and manufacturing qualifications, developed with industry needs in mind. From introductory and Level 2 qualifications through to advanced learning, apprenticeships and end-point assessment, our offer supports people at different stages of their skills journey.

These are practical routes into sectors where people can build knowledge, gain hands-on experience and continue developing throughout their careers.

Celebrating vocational routes

This year, we also had the opportunity to celebrate the people taking those vocational routes through the first Vocational Celebration Day, created by EAL and Enginuity.

The event brought together learners, apprentices, educators and employers from across the UK to celebrate vocational talent and recognise the contribution these skills make to our workplaces and communities.

It was a great reminder that there is no single route into a rewarding career, and that vocational learning has an important part to play in developing the skilled people manufacturing needs.

Celebrating the people behind manufacturing

National Manufacturing Day gives us an opportunity to recognise everyone who plays a part in keeping the sector moving, from those starting out in their careers to the experienced professionals sharing their knowledge with the next generation.
