Amendment 4 (2026) to BS 7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations will be published on 15 April 2026.
This means that our qualifications and assessments are being reviewed to align with this latest amendment. This change impacts a range of qualifications as BS 7671 is assessed across several qualifications.
We will launch a replacement Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 qualification to A4.
We plan for this to be available for registrations in April 2026. Learners can be assessed as soon as they are ready.
The current qualification will close for registration on 31 July 2026 and close for certifications on 31 December 2026. The onscreen exam will be available until October 15th, 2026.
For qualifications which incorporate the full onscreen exam assessing BS 7671 embedded in its’ rule of combination as a standalone unit.
From 16 April 2026 until 15 October 2026, learners will be able to sit onscreen exams to Amendment 3 or 4. From 16 October 2026, only the Amendment 4 onscreen exam versions will be available.
Pathway transfers will be available for learners on these qualifications, except for 601/4563/8 and 610/3907/X. All new registrations from 16 April 2026 should be on an Amendment 4 pathway.
For qualifications which have knowledge of BS 7671 assessed as part of an open-book, onscreen exam, the relevant exams will be amended.
From 16 April 2026 to 15 October 2026, learners will take online tests that are neutral and can be taken with Amendment 3 or 4 versions. As of 16 October 2026, on-screen exam versions will be fully aligned with Amendment 4.
For qualifications which have knowledge of BS 7671 assessed as part of centre-marked written assignments or practical tasks, the relevant assessment tasks will be amended within the qualification documentation by 31 July 2026. Centres may mark these to either amendment during the period 16 April 2026 to 15 October 2026.
Once available, we will upload revised assessment materials onto our online services and update Centres.
Other qualifications will be impacted as accompanying guidance notes and codes of practice are updated to Amendment 4. We will keep you informed as we progress with these updates and ensure you are aware of key dates when transitions are happening.
