This VRQ qualification focuses on practical skills and knowledge. This ensures that when the learner completes the qualification they will have gained practical experience and some expectation of some of the situations that they could face in a job role within the engineering sector.
It covers the intermediate level knowledge and understanding of maintenance engineering technology and has been developed in consultation with colleges, training associations and industry to ensure that it meets the needs of the engineering sector. This diploma does not require occupational evidence.
Who is this qualification for?
The qualification comprises of three common mandatory units which cover: engineering environment awareness, engineering techniques and engineering principles. It then covers the following units: maintenance safety practices, maintenance techniques and maintenance planning.
This qualification is intended for age ranges: Pre-16, 16-18, 19+.
Typical Job: Maintenance Engineer
The qualification is assessed by an on-screen examination covering the core units, and Centre marked theory and practical assessments for the optional units.
The qualification is not graded and only a pass can be achieved.
