This award covers the principles and practices involved in the construction of electrical panels for engineering applications together with the commissioning techniques of electrical panels and associated equipment. The qualification is relevant for learners who wish to learn about electrical panels, and technician-level engineers who are working with panels and wish to achieve a formal qualification. The qualification covers the relevant statutory and non-statutory legislation, safe systems of working, and interpretation of drawings and diagrams, together with refurbishing, maintaining, repairing and commissioning electrical panels.
Where this qualification is taken as part of the Experienced Worker Assessment (EWA) for the Panel Builder Gold Card, candidates will need 5 years of relevant experience and employer support and endorsement where applicable. Refer all queries about this EWA to Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS).
Learners must be at least 16 years old.
