To assist centres in delivering the installation and maintenance electrician apprenticeship we have mapped the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) from the apprenticeship standard to the EAL L3 Electrotechnical Qualification (601/7345/2).
This will help centres ensure that the KSBs can be reflected in training and also identify areas of gaps – therefore, will assist in robust delivery. The mapping is now available from EAL online services.
We are pleased to announce that the EAL BSE (Level 3) - Heating and Ventilating Installation qualification is now available as part of an updated apprenticeship framework in Wales and is backdated for registrations from 1 November 2023.
Learners will develop their knowledge, skills, and understanding of the Heating and Ventilating Installation trade, as contained in the National Occupational Standards. The qualification is designed to be completed part-time within an apprenticeship.
The electrotechnical installation and plumbing and heating frameworks have also been updated to permit the recognition of older level 2/3 qualifications in the correct trade against the Core for transition learners. Learners who have achieved a Level 2 or 3 Certificate or 3 Diploma in the trade in which the apprenticeship is to be undertaken will not be required to undertake/achieve the Core.
The note is at the end of Page 2 of the updated framework documents, which are available from Apprenticeship Certification Wales.
We are updating you about an important change to the EAL Level 3 Award In the Installation of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems (600/5175/9).
Following customer feedback and to ensure ongoing validity to the profession, learners registered from 01/02/24 can undertake a new unit (QET3/002SPVA), which will be assessed by an open book onscreen examination. Learners can use the IET Code of Practice for Grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic Systems and MIS 3002.
If you register learners in February 2024, there are two pathways available for registration: 600/5175/9 and 600/5175/9A.
Please make sure you select the correct pathway.
Pathway 600/5175/9 has unit QET3/002SPV for the closed book exam, and pathway 600/5175/9A has unit QET3/002SPVA for the open book exam.
We have provided this overlap period in February to ensure we can deliver this change in a manageable way for you and your learners (if you have learners due to enrol without the CoP, for example). Existing learners will not be affected by this change.
