EAL Level 3 Award In the In-Service Inspection and Testing Of Electrical Equipment

This award gives the learner an understanding of the theory and practice of the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment; commonly referred to as PAT testing (Portable Appliance
Testing).

Learners must be at least 16 years old. There are no formal entry requirements
for this qualification. However, learners must have the potential to achieve
all aspects of the qualification. In particular, learners should be able to
demonstrate that they have the minimum levels of literacy and numerary
required for the completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments.

• Those who wish to carry out formal visual inspections, and inspections
and tests of electrical equipment.
• Electricians who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills.
• Those who wish to pursue a career in the electrotechnical/building
services sector.

An on-screen exams and a practical assessment. The qualification is
not graded and the learner may only achieve a pass. The qualification
assessments are open book, and the learner will require the IET Code of
Practice.

The theory and practice involved with the safe in-service inspection and
testing of electrical equipment.
