The Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations
This Award gives the learner an understanding of the theory and practice of the initial verification and commissioning of both single and three phase electrical installations. The qualification follows BS 7671 and the industry recognised IET Guidance Note 3, as well as the Electrical Safely Council
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification although Centres should ensure that learners have the potential to achieve the qualification unit.
Electricians who wish to carry out the inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installations. Those who wish to acquire new knowledge and skills.
The assessment involves one on-screen open book exam (IET GN3) and practical assessments covering initial inspection, earth fault loop impedance testing, insulation resistance testing, and commissioning of a three phase rig.
The qualification can be delivered completely at the Centre, with a mix of workshop and theory sessions. NICEIC support materials are available at a discount for EAL Centres delivering this qualification.
