This qualifications cover the intermediate knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods and technology involved in a range of engineering disciplines.

There are no entry qualifications or age limits required by learners to undertake the qualification unless this is a legal requirement of the process or the environment. Assessment is open to any learner who has the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the qualification.

Apprentices working towards a level 2 Apprenticeship (Diploma only) Workers looking to achieve trained operator/semi-skilled status in a wide range of engineering disciplines.

The mandatory units are assessed externally in a 1 hour onscreen or paper-based exam. Internal assessments test practical skills and knowledge of the optional units. Guidance is provided for each unit.

Knowledge qualifications can be delivered in a classroom or workshop environment.
