Engineering Maintenance NVQ

This qualification is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). It involves the skills and knowledge needed for occupations in Engineering Maintenance including the ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems. NVQs are based on national occupational standards, which the learner must meet to be competent in a particular task. The achievement of NVQs will encourage an employee to value their contribution to the workplace, and it will develop their skills and potential within the Engineering Maintenance field.

Centres should ensure that the learners have the potential to achieve the units selected within this qualification. Learners must have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy to comply with the health and safety aspects of the scheme, the completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments.

This qualification is for: individuals who need recognition of their competence in one or more of a wide variety of Engineering Maintenance activities and also need a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 learners who are undertaking a SEMTA Apprenticeship and wish to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship those who are working in an Engineering Maintenance environment and would like to work towards a relevant Level 3 qualification those who are new to Engineering Maintenance but are looking for a career change and wish to develop new skills within the industry.

Assessment will be carried out in the workplace (unless otherwise specified) via observation and the collation of evidence in a portfolio.
