This introductory qualification covers the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to work effectively in a range of manufacturing roles. The two mandatory units look at compliance with workplace regulations and safe working practices, as well as effective working relationships. Learners can choose two optional units from a range designed to support the manufacturing operation, and a further optional unit relating to their specific job role.

There are no entry qualifications or age limits required by learners to undertake the qualification unless this is a legal requirement of the process or the environment. Assessment is open to any learner who has the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the qualification.

Learners who are new to the sector or looking for a career change. Workers looking to progress to higher level qualifications or an Apprenticeship in the engineering and manufacturing sector.

Assessment will be carried out in the workplace or other appropriate environment via observation and the collation of evidence in a portfolio.
