There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification although Centres should ensure that the learners have the potential to achieve the units selected within this qualification. Learners must have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy to comply with the health and safety aspects of the scheme, the completion of the learning outcomes and any assessment requirements.
This Award is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of learners and employers across the science, manufacturing and engineering sectors. This qualification is for learners who: are new to the science, manufacturing and engineering environment but have no formal qualifications are starting an apprenticeship are looking for career progression within the workplace wish to learn additional knowledge relevant to the workplace.
The assessment of this qualification is by the satisfactory completion of the questions within the self-study guide which have been reviewed by the delivery staff to achieve the qualification.
All training must be carried out in appropriate premises. Centres need to ensure that a suitable environment for information transfer is made available. The above requirements apply equally to training undertaken away from the training establishment, e.g. at employer
