Engineering Technology - Motorsport
This qualification is a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) which sits on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and has been approved by the National College for Motorsport and employers within the motorsport industry. It covers the intermediate level knowledge and understanding of motorsport engineering and has been developed in consultation with motorsport industry specialists and training provider to ensure that it meets the needs of industry employers and learners. The qualification has huge potential benefits for those engaging with the motorsport engineering industry sector. This qualification does not require occupational evidence.
There are no entry qualifications required by learners to undertake this qualification unless there is a legal requirement of the process or the environment. Assessment is open to any learner who has the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the units of assessment.
Learners who wish to gain a knowledge and understanding of the motorsport engineering sector. Those who are new to the sector or looking for a career change or wish to learn new skills.
This is a graded qualification; learners can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction. The assessment of this qualification is by internal (centre marked) assessments. The learner must pass all the internal assessments to achieve the full qualification. It is advised that the learner’s produce a logbook/portfolio where they can file and make reference to evidence that shows their achievements against the learning outcomes.
An appropriate and realistic work area must available for the learner to carry out the practical assessments, using the normal constraints of time, resources, authority etc. (if the selected work area is not in an active working environment then prior agreement from EAL of the suitability of the work area to be used for the workplace organisation activity must be sought).
