EAL Level 1 Award in Introductory Oxy - Acetylene Welding Skills
This qualification was developed to fill an identified gap in the market for introductory level welding qualifications. It is designed to have a ‘hands on’ practical approach to introductory welding training and as such to support improved retention and attainment at Level 1. To support this hands-on approach, the knowledge aspects of the qualification are covered by a self-study pack that, with support, allows learners to learn at their own pace and retain the pack for support after the qualification is completed.
There are no entry qualifications or age limits required by learners to undertake this qualification unless this is a legal requirement of the process or the environment. Assessment is open to any learner who has the potential to achieve the assessment criteria set out in the assessment routes.
Those who are new to welding, or would like some experience of the job before starting their career. Learners looking to progress to higher qualifications and achieve professional recognition from The Welding Institute. Employees working in another aspect of welding engineering who require some practical training.
Final assessments of this qualification are through practical tasks in the form of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and internally assessed knowledge tests delivered using a provided study pack.
As an introductory qualification, this is designed to be delivered off the job, in workshop and classroom settings.
