Following the publication of the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations last month, we have produced a short guide to clarify the publications to be used in our electrical exams and centre assessments.

You can download the guide here.

We have also made updates to a number of our electrical qualifications.

EAL Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation 600/9331/6

  • a new unit for the 18th Edition ('pathway transfer' available to 18th Edition Version)
  • an updated assessment approach for Unit 08, Electrical Science and Principles: updated assignment to reduce centre marking, and increase in on-line exam to 30 questions.

EAL Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Electrical Installation 601/4563/8

EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification 601/7345/2

  • Exam for unit NETK3/ 03 and 04, will be OPEN BOOK. (BS 7671, IET OSG, and Unite the Union Book 'Electrician's Guide to Good Electrical Practice).

The pathway transfer facility, where allowed, will enable centres to transfer learners onto the newer 18th Edition version of the qualification. This will benefit centres and learners by providing a qualification version appropriate to the publications the learner holds. Guidance is available in Online Services (see Guidance Documents and Change Qualification Pathway).

Further guidance is also provided in our qualification manuals, which are also available via Online Services.
