Important changes are coming to the wiring regulations award due to Amendment 2 of BS 7671:2018
Amendment 2 (2022) to BS 7671:2018 (IET Wiring Regulations) is due to be published on 28th March 2022 and Amendment 1 (BS 7671:2018+A1:2020) will be withdrawn six months later.
To accommodate this change we are currently updating our wiring regulations award:
- EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 603/3298/0 to incorporate a new unit: Understand the Requirements of Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 (2022).
This qualification update will enable centres to register the Learner on the Amendment 1 unit in the qualification or the Amendment 2 unit. The benefit given is that Learners who complete the Amendment 2 unit will have ‘2022’ on their unit certificate and complete to the most current requirements. Learners who have already completed the qualification to Amendment 1 may undertake the new Amendment 2 unit as standalone unit (e.g. for CPD) if they wish. We will then retire the Amendment 1 unit from the qualification 6 months after Amendment 2 comes into force (in September 22), and the Amendment 1 unit assessment unit will be withdrawn at the end of 2022.
Where the wiring regulations unit is part of a qualification in the:
- EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification 601/7345/2
- EAL Level 3 Diploma In Electrical Installation 600/9331/6
- EAL Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Electrical Installation 601/4563/8
- EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification 603/5982/1
We are in the process of updating these qualifications, with a new Amendment 2 unit, and more information will follow shortly.
A range of other electrical qualifications will be updated to reflect Amendment 2 of BS 7671:2018, and forthcoming IET updates to their publications.
