Pasty giant Ginsters win EAL-sponsored award
Pasty company Ginsters has tasted yet more success – winning the EAL Skills and People category at The Manufacturer of the Year 2014 Awards.
Ginsters were presented with the award by EAL’s Managing Director Julia Chippendale at a ceremony and Gala dinner held at the ICC in Birmingham.
Ginsters, which began life as a family business in Cornwall in 1967 before becoming part of Samworth Brothers 10 years later, now employs around 800 staff and produces over 3 million savoury products each week.
The company produces a wide range of “food on the move” products including pasties, pies, slices and sandwiches. Ginsters’ original Cornish Pasty is the best-selling Cornish Pasty in the UK and the company is the Number one savoury pastry and sandwich brand.
Steve Jones, Ginsters Head of Personnel and Development said: “We are delighted to be named Winner of the Manufacturer Award 2014 in recognition of our commitment to our investment in People & Skills."
“We believe that the way to sustained business success is to have a fully engaged and highly skilled team of people who are rewarded for their efforts. We have created a culture of learning and development within the business, which not only provides our teams with the necessary skills to do their jobs, but also encourages lifelong learning and personal development."
“Our Number one status in our marketplace is a reflection of the great team of people we have at Ginsters and their desire to contribute to the success of our business every single day.”
Julia Chippendale, Managing Director of EAL, the specialist awarding organisation for industry, said: “It is clear that Ginsters continual programme of developing the skills of their people has been instrumental in the company’s growth and success."
“As an organisation which prides itself being closer to industry, working with employers to develop qualifications and skills to meet their needs, EAL is delighted that Ginsters won the category we sponsored against such stiff competition. I pass on my personal congratulations to all who work there.”
