EAL set to help implement Perkins Review
Education at Heart of Prof’s Engineering Review
Specialist awarding organisation EAL has pledged to engage with employers and educators to help implement the far-reaching recommendations of Professor Perkins’ Review of Engineering Skills published today (4thNovember).
The Professor – tasked with reviewing how to increase the number of people entering engineering – has made 22 recommendations.
Education lies at the heart of the key findings with a focus on Academic Foundations, Vocational Education and Higher Education.
As EAL processes more than 70% of all vocational awards in engineering – the awarding agency will play a crucial role in reform.
Julia Chippendale, EAL Managing Director, said: “As the only specialist awarding organisation in the engineering sector, EAL will be a crucial catalyst to implement Professor Perkins’ recommendations.
“We are already fully engaged with places of education and employers – and in discussion with senior players in the sector to develop a raft of fully flexible solutions to meet their future needs.”
It is envisaged that EAL will reveal a series of new initiatives incorporating Professor Perkins’ recommendations early next year.
