Learners registered on EAL qualifications put in a strong showing at last month's Skills Show in Birmingham, accounting for almost half of the engineering skills competition finalists.
There were 114 engineering competitors in total and 53 (46%) were EAL learners. Of those, 29 in total went on to win medals, with a haul of 10 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze. A further 8 were highly commended for their excellent performances.
Alison Parkes, Managing Director of EAL, said:
"A heartfelt congratulations and well done to all of the competition finalists at the Skills Show. It's been another fantastic performance all round from EAL learners, who have done themselves proud and worked so hard to get to the Skills Show national finals.
"They are fantastic role models for other young people, showing that hard work and determination pays off. It's very much a team effort, and we mustn't forget their amazing tutors and delivery partners who work behind the scenes to support and mentor them on their journey."
