We have introduced a three day resit rule on all examinations (except those relating to Functional Skills examinations), which replaces the previous 7 day rule.
This means that following the release of an examination result indicating a failed exam, the candidate is excluded from sitting the same exam for a period of three days*, thus allowing sufficient time for the candidate to revise prior to re-sitting. Centres are reminded of the importance of candidate Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and development time for resits, to ensure candidates are appropriately prepared for any further examinations.
*For example if the examination results are issued on a Tuesday, then the candidate may resit the examination on the Friday.
When undertaking End-Point Assessment (EPA) examinations please refer directly to the resit rules stated within the assessment plan.
Exams can be scheduled immediately for anytime more than three days after the original examination sitting.
