Wyred for Success

WA-Engineer-Training-logoEAL and WA Electrical Engineer Training have delivered a UK First.  Three learners have become the first in the UK to successfully complete a new industry recognised qualification for electrical engineers.

Lewis McCoy, Edward Hegarty and Gheorghe Neagu have achieved EAL’s Level 4 qualification for the Design and Verification of Electrical Installation.

Devised by EAL, the specialist skills partner and awarding organisation for industry, the qualification covers the concepts, processes and practices involved with the design, construction management and the initial verification of electrical installations.
The emphasis is on the safe and ergonomic design of an installation which complies with relevant statutes, regulations, industry standards, and sound engineering practices.

david-wyre-electricalTraining was undertaken at WA Electrical Engineer Training in Bolton. Managing Director, David Wyre said the new EAL qualification is much more in tune with the workplace.

“The way the qualification is structured gives learners more confidence and self-belief that they will be successful,” he said. “During their studies, they can use Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) publications. The IET sets the standards for the industry and so it mirrors what the learners would do in the workplace and improves their level of competence.”

WA Electrical Engineer Training was established in the North West of England in 2005 by David, an electrical engineer and respected consultant in the electrical engineering industry for over 43 years.

Since the company was started, the business has flourished, and is proud to have trained over 10,000 engineers in a range of electrical disciplines, with an outstanding achievement rate for its learners.

“Our relationship with EAL is very important,” said David. “Their experts are easy to work with and if we have a query it is usually resolved within 24 hours. We also provide feedback on qualifications which they take on board. EAL is very customer and learner focused and concentrates on the important things to turn out the best qualified electrical engineers.”

One learner to benefit is Gheorghe Neagu, who lives in Bradford but was originally from Romania.

He works for Greencore Ltd but struggles writing English as it is not his first language, but he is an excellent engineer able to communicate and operate to the required standards.

Gheorghe said: “My exact needs were considered. David and the team provided personal, caring and professional tuition, always encouraging me and I made excellent progress. I would definitely recommend his services and the qualification to anyone.”

Julia Chippendale, EAL managing director said:

“It is always heartening to hear success stories. This innovative qualification was developed with employers, our centres and is recognised by the Joint Industry Board (JIB) – the professional body for the electrical contracting industry.

“The excellent work of David Wyre and his team has resulted in three young electrical engineers achieving a qualification which proves they have the skills and knowledge they need to do the job.”
